Trial delayed for man accused of killing his sister, her son in Point Loma

SAN DIEGO The murder trial of a Point Loma man who is accused of shooting his sister and nephew has been moved to Dec Deputy District Attorney Scott Pirrello disclosed last Friday that his office will not be seeking the death penalty against William Bushey and instead will seek a life term in prison without parole if he s convicted Bushey is charged with two special circumstances of committing multiple murders on Aug in the block of Zola Street where Bushey lived with his sister Zola Street Bushey is also charged with attempted murder of his mother June Bushey who was wounded in the chest in the happening that left Laurie Robinson and her son Brett Robinson dead from shotgun blasts Bushey was to have gone on trial Tuesday but San Diego Superior Court Judge Joan Weber moved the trial date to Dec last week after Bushy and the attorneys met with her for a status conference Bushey also known as Billy Bushey has pleaded not guilty and remains in the George Bailey Detention Facility without bail When June Bushy testified in a Feb preliminary hearing she held up three fingers in court to show her right hand where two fingers had been shot off Police officers had visited the home two days before the shootings because the defendant was upset about his living arrangements with his sister However they concluded that no crime had been committed and advised the family about civil remedies such as a restraining order
